It's actually the other way around. That's the reason this situation is still going. If the Greek economy crashes, a huge worldwide financial crashing domino will happen. That's exactly why they don't let Greece flop miserably alone.

They should listen to the wise words of Leslie Knope and merge with one of their neighbours, preferably Bulgaria. Her words saved Eagleton and made Pawnee bigger, though in the end everyone hated her. (Yes I just finished a Parks & Rec marathon )
