Canadian schools don't teach us anything about the slave trade. It's all European history and Canadian history.
Maybe not out east, but we were taught all about the slave trade in Alberta. I even had a US Geography test where we had to correctly label all 50 states.
Well, it's kinda common knowledge that they suck at geography. I remember a TV show where someone asked people in the streets geography questions and they answered the most ridiculous things. Some people thought their states were countries and some others didn't even know there were other countries aside from the US.
I still remember a lady saying that New England was in England.
Asking children will yield an entirely different answer -- 50 Nifty United States has taught children nationwide about the states (its the adults you have to watch out for)
(Don't really listen though, your ears will bleed.)

that might just be your specific schoool district or w/e, because we didn't learn about any geography besides our own at my elementary school just north of Edmonton. my school might have lightly touched upon the slave trade, but we definitely didn't learn 'all about it.'
To be fair, few people care about geography enough to read about it on their own (this is not taught in American schools, even American geography is not taught enough).

True enough. We learned about it in high school and I thought all Alberta public schools had the same curriculum (as it was grade 12 and I even remember questions on it during the provincial diploma exam.) But I guess not?
