I don't think they should have to pay these taxes, they are headquartered in Seattle. Let's be real, Amazon was already complying with UK law but Westminster realized the existing laws didn't let them take as much money as they would like from successful corporations. So they changed the rules.

They were using loopholes to avoid paying tax.
If you make money in a country you should be paying tax there. This money goes to hospitals, schools, emergency services and so many other important things. Only a true idiot would be against this.

I will now resume buying regularly from them, glad this has FINALLY happened. Hope others follow suit.

Precisely. It stops a large, multinational company with copious mounds of money from pocketing the money that goes towards the benefit of British citizens. Literally no-one loses.

So they just closed the loopholes? That sounds more reasonable I guess. But still, you can't blame Amazon, any corporation would do the same, it's the government's fault for leaving these loopholes open in the first place. Also some governments are real tax-crazy trying to suck up every drop, look at the US going after Boris Johnson... he paid up, by the way.

You say they didn't close it? If the loophole is open why not close the loophole? I don't know if I'd say it's immoral, first and foremost they have a responsibility to their shareholders.

Of course it's immoral? You can't take tons of money from a country without paying a fraction of it back. They pay it everywhere else
