Finally watched the first Semi-Final, such a boring show - why was there so many ballads and empowerment songs?! Urgh. So having just seen those 16 and the UKs entry my Top 4 is looking (In no particular order): UK, Belgium, Russia, Estonia, with Georgia in a distant 5th. Though listening on Youtube again none of them are holding up...

Can't believe The Netherlands got knocked out, I was singing that song by the end of the performance.


Also can't believe that the UK has managed to make my Top 5 for a second year in a row, and it's starting to pull ahead of the pack again. Could I really go from hating every recent UK entry to having two in a row top my personal rankings?! Well done, BBC (for once).

I think this is due to the huge population of Russia.

Romania (the country with the biggest population after Russia, that participated to the 1st semi-final): 19,822,000

So I guess the huge amount of views is pretty reasonable. I don't think it's about the song. I find it really hard for a country to have a 2nd win in 10 years (due to EBU).

Chill with the "RUSSIA IS WINNING!!!" comments. Last year The Netherlands were winning after the first semi final, and then Ms Conchita performed in the second semi and obliterated their hype.

This year we have three favorites performing in the second semi (Sweden, Norway, Slovenia). We also have two favorites already in the final (Italy, Australia). This is wide open.
