Mario 64 is so infuriating, if it wasn't for the save states on this version there is no way I could play it

Not dying but repeatedly falling off platforms etc is death, the mechanics are just so poor

I heard there's lag on the Wii U version. That must make it more irritating to control.

N64 games were landmarks at the time and wholly deserving of respect but are entirely outdated and clunky today. I'd rather not touch most of them.

I mean there must be, the emulator version wasn't this bad (but was still too hard to control due to being on a laptop anyway)

This game is a classic and paved the way for the series I actually grew up playing, Crash Bandicoot, and I'm loving the game so far but it's just taking me 30 attempts just to jump on a platform half the time. Definitely aged badly. I could never play the N64 Zelda's either, the 3DS remakes did perfect.

Yeah the only N64 game I'd play now is Paper Mario, and even then I'd play TTYD before it

^ The first PM is still a classic though. I want that remake in a few years on the next console.
