To me the downfall with To Pimp a Butterfly was he focused too much on being artistic and making some kind of statement, none of the songs ended up being actual bops. He forgot an Album needs jams, not poetry the entire time.
King Kunta & 2-3 others were cute, but they weren't JAMS. They were replayable for a few weeks.
It's just an album where you have to listen to it in whole each time to get with it, and nobody is doing that in 2015 unless it's straight up filled with jams AND has a theme/central sound (1989, Take Care, 21, etc).
