These graphs are implying causation, but neither of these things are causing the other to occur. It's actually just correlation, two things showing similar trends simultaneously. The satire is that the comparisons insinuate really ridiculous caustions, like the number of people dying from being tangled in their bedsheets causing the total revenue by the skiing industry.
