Trains are safe though, don't let one story judge your interpretation of them.
On average, around 90 people a day are killed by some sort of car-related incident in the U.S.
While this is a tragedy, this is one incident that hasn't killed anywhere near that number.
Trains are safe, but they do need more funding to make it the safest it can possibly be. Of course, congress is being run by a bunch of inbred dumbasses right now that don't care about trying to improve rail travel into a viable alternative for transportation in this country.
