you don't have to. it's a free world. you can be spiritual without believing in a God
remember, there're many religions in the world throughout the history. what if I believe in Zeus/Jupiter instead of Jesus and God? religion is a form of faith, not fact or science

Exactly!
This article describes how it's done really well. I learned a lot from it.
A group of Dominican youngsters are starting an atheist youth group, based on and to promote real humanist values.
I hope to join and do some amazing things.
I think that most atheists have this humanist outlook on life. It's much more liberating living a life like this. It is spiritualistic, and makes us understand humans, life and this universe better. I can never find such freedom and truth in most religions or knowing that a God is watching over me. I recommend you guys to read it.
I'm not sure if I'm an "Atheist" (I'm not very educated about it) but I believe in Humanism and the Nature. I'm gonna learn more about it. Great thread for the rest of us
When I was a kid I grew up in a bible belt so I was obviously raised with Christian ideals. But like, I lowkey feared God because I was so scared of going to hell and I felt like he was judging everything I did
You can say it was because of how I was raised which I would partially agree with, but I just feel so much more free and happy being atheist
I used to believe in a lot of things. Tooth fairy, Santa Claus, God, the Easter bunny. Then I grew up.
Actually, to quote the bible: "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
Let me post in here by saying I do not think a higher power exists, but I do believe in ghosts/the supernatural. I don't know if that makes me a hypocrite, but whatever it's fun to believe.

Wikipedia and urban dictionary were too complicated
Here's the Google dictionary definition, which is good:
Quote:
an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.
Humanism, rather than being an active rejection of a deity (a.k.a. atheism), diverts the attention away from the concept of one.
