Ah yes. Clearly, Britney's 9th(?) studio album will sell the same as In the Zone.
And btw, I was just pointing something out, I wasn't arguing that that means anything to this conversation.

#1's – 3,800,000
both outsell, Circus, Femme Fatale and Britney Jean

Destiny's Child's last two studio albums are from the era of albums, so they should be compared to Britney's 1999-2004 albums and whenever they released at the same, Britney outsold them.
BOMT (25 mio) > TWOW (12 mio)
Britney (11 mio) > Survivor (10 mio)
ITZ (8 mio) > DF (6 mio)

You're right, Britney's next album will probably sell something closer to what Britney Jean sold.
2000-2012 saw a 70% drop in total album sales. The closest studio release Destiny's Child had to 2000 was Survivor, released in mid-2001, which according to Ignacio's statistics sold 10,000,000. 30% of 10,000,000 is 3,000,000. 2012-2013 saw an 8% drop in total album sales. 92% of 3,000,000 is 2,760,000. 2013-2014 saw an 8% drop & 92% of 2,760,000 is 2,539,200. Assuming there'll be another 8% drop this year, we're down to 2,336,064.
According to Haribo's receipts thread, Beyoncé's 2003 album Dangerously In Love sold 10,000,000. Assuming the 70% 12 year decline was steady, if we find 52.5% (70/12=5.8333 x3=17.5 70-17.5=52.5) of 10,000,000 we get 5,250,00. 2012-2013's figure should be 4,830,000. Beyoncé released BEYONCÉ in 2014 which only sold 3,900,000 according to Haribo's thread, which is only 80.7453416% of her projected figure against album sales. That means there is a 19% difference which can only be explained by other factors like people streaming instead/a decline in popularity/illegally downloading instead/using TIDAL etc.
Beyoncé is the main pull for Destiny's Child and her figures are more favourable for you guys for me to use instead of Michelle's or Kelly's. So, offsetting Beyoncé's "decline gap" against Destiny's Child's projection would turn out as follows: 80% of 2,336,064 is 1,868,851. This is only a viable figure if they have a similar promotional schedule, the same single success etc.
For a more accurate figure, I estimate they'd sell 1,500,000 if they released this year by this formula. If she actually handles this era right, Britney could outsell that.

Femme Fatale was also a complete mess but the single success had it sell 1,900,000 which is honestly more than it deserved to sell she could for sure sell at least 1,500,000 with a lead single more friendly to radio than Work Bitch and a second single better in general than Perfume. Pretty Girls will probably do better than Work Bitch, considering it has a feature and a performance.

So from your estimation using sales declines and artist declines DC would sell 1.5M (seems reasonable enough)...using the same technique Britney should sell about 500k.

nnnnnnn Christina with only 3 votes.
Anyway DC. The publicity from the news of their getting back together alone would carry their album.

I've run the numbers for Britney too, but you can't compare Britney Jean's sales to BEYONCÉ's because BEYONCÉ actually sold a more than its predecessor, due to it being a masterpiece and having an innovative promotion plan (all the iTunes banners, the digital release etc.). Meanwhile Britney Jean was basically a well-kept secret, with Britney not performing one damn song off the album and using interview opportunities to either promote Las Vegas or her underwear line. It's not accurate considering how it looks Britney's current era is going to pan out (promotion/features/etc.) so a more accurate figure could be gained from B9's eventual sales, so long as things continue in this light. The fact is that Britney can sell 1,500,000+ under normal circumstances but her last era was a bigger mess than ARTPOP.

If anything, B9 is in a worse trajectory than BJ.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't FF lead single do 400k 1st week, WB 200k and PG 100k?

Oh you meant WW.
How do you figure PG will do better than WB, it is flopping just about everywhere so far.

I think it will do better because it doesn't contain the word "bitch" 20 times but I could be wrong.

The difference between the FF lead single & BJ lead single is the point I was trying to make. In terms of getting an accurate figure, it doesn't matter whether PG eventually sells more than WB or not, but I think that it will considering that it's getting a promotional performance & her last single collaboration sold 8,500,000. Just to equate that to Beyoncé/Destiny's Child and relate that back to the thread, I think DIL was Beyoncé's last single collaboration which has sold 3,300,000. Maybe it will be a complete flop but either way, we will still have a more accurate figure because the sales gap between what she should be projected to sell and what she actually sells will be as a result of the same things that created Beyoncé's gap & not due to other circumstances.
