I was born in the UK however my parents were born in Pakistan. They moved here in the 1970s and have been here since. I identify as British first, Pakistani second.
A lot of people have mistaken me for being Palestinian, Turkish, Arab and even an Israeli at one point. I mentioned this to an uncle once and he ended up going to Pakistan to do a family tree. Due to records not being kept properly, it was hard to trace our family back several generations but he uncovered that we do indeed have Turkey, Iranian, and even Egyptian ancestors as far back as the 1800s. (not that long ago considering my grandparents were all born between 1914-1920).
