Ships sounds pretty pop-y and the description of QOP is "dancey" so yeah, there could be a commercial success in there.

But amongst the others, I'm not sure if QOP or STW are the two most mainstream or if another one could take that title.

I'm so frustrated, I'm want it to leak so I can listen, but I'm happy it doesn't because Florence deserves it

Sorry for not replying. Didn't have time to see each post. I don't think any of those songs have commercial-potential. But I also don't really think songs like Ship To Wreck has a kind of a hit-potential. But yeah, I guess songs like Queen Of Peace and Third Eye can be played on the radio.

Ships is being sent to alternative next week. And though WKOM was sent as well, if Ships catches on more I'm sure they'll send it to Top 40.

Although, this is the same record label that added the Spectrum remix to cool new music in All Access, removed it, and then had pop add dates, and then removed it again

You got me even more hyped for the album than I was. I knew QOP, VS&S and Delilah were coming to slay me.

At first I was worried because you described a lot of them as "ballady", but ceremonials isn't exactly "upbeat in tempo" per se. Wel some of it. If you had to choose, would you say you mean the songs are "ballads" in the sense of BTD? Or maybe Never gonna love again by Lykke li (as in, Never let me go type ballad). Or do you mean the tone, the tempo, etc

And about the ballads - Various Storms, Long & Lost, Caught and St Jude are real real real total ballads. So 4 out of 11 songs.

what i like about florence's songs is that...unlike other artists, they don't seem to be about one specific thing. they seem like portraits of various events, ideas, influences all drawn together. do you know what i mean? like, take a mainstream pop artist (taylor or katy, for example). there songs are very direct and to the point. then take songs like WTWGM, NLMG, STW. flo's songs are a bit more complex, if you will. do you think the rest of the album is like that, or are the songs pretty direct and esay to understand.

example: you said Delilah is the song inspired by Jamaica and the phonecall that wouldn't come. but does it seem the song is a bit deeper or more complex than just that?

i hope this makes sense. i LOVE analyzing her music and lyrics. it's the best

Well, I guess some of it is more raw, real and easy to understand but at the same time she kept her style and is using lots of symbols and metaphors. I also love her beautiful poetry, just like you and I know what you are talking about. There's nothing as mysterious and hard to decipher as What The Water Gave Me in this album, haha. Or there may be, dunno. It's hard to hear everything this early.
