Things are not what they used to be in the 90s not even what they used to be 4 years ago. You can't expect Britney to come out with a ROL like medge.
Even if she did, I'm sure the numbers wouldn't be much different. At this time I'm sure team Brit and Brit know that do that's why she released a carefree song. Sure it follows some current trends in hopes it'll sale some.
At the end of the day the GP doesn't check or know or give a duck about charts. They just think "hey, Britney came out with a catchy new tune. Cool." As well as, "****! We're in Vegas! We gotta go see Britney. She's like the NYC Statue of Liberty from Vegas!"

well you can believe that but that doesn't mean we have to.
I won't live and die by charts but I like to see my faves succeed. that said, i'm not mad that this song is underperforming (too soon to call it a flop yet) because it's just not a great song. It's cute and catchy but Britney is turning 34 meaning 17 years ago she was introduced to us.
Most people didn't even expect her to last a fraction as long but since she has I would like something more than Pretty girls. It's cute but
BOMT...only britney could do that song it's proper justic.
Same with OIDIA, slave, toxic, everytime, pom etc.
PG IMO could be done by any 20 something pop star and it's regressive. It's cute though.
I don't care if the GP knows a song is #1...however, I do like when the public can like the song and think it's a good song even some mindless pop songs are good for it's purpose.
I just want her to do things that only Britney could do

I prefer TD over PG.
As for the video, it's cute, but I'm over Britney trying to be sexy. She's too much of a mom now.
I'd love for her to get some serious vocal coaching, a la Madge w/ Evita, and release something she truly believes in. Much like ROL.
I'm sure Brit really enjoys PG, but it lacks substance. The kids she catered to in 99 are in their twenties, and close to 30 now. She's kind of alienating (no pun) them in favor of a younger crowd.

Yeah, since Vegas is ending soon then I think these singles should be one offs and she needs to live her life with her family and new man...
the only way to get a reinvention organically is when she comes out of it organically.
I do have high hopes for her material as a new wife and possibly a new mother.
She produced someday with that hope.
She can serve bops and still have growth involved. Ray of light was a fun bop.
not to say there'll ever be a ray of light 2 but her evolution is needed to become a music legend.
For now she's a teen pop and entertainment legend/ pop music/pop culture icon.
She needs to end her career as a music legend
