Shes been paring it down for the past few years actually. When ARTPOP first came out she'd gone somewhat minimal and focused on textures rather than full on crazy ensembles. It was like once the era started rolling that she fell back into the absurd I guess as some sort of form of rebellion to everyone that expected her to pare it down. But even with a few of those absurd ARTPOP-era looks, she had still mostly calmed down fashion wise. But I mean good press is good press.
