Pop Songs
*** No. 1 (1 week)*** "Earned It (Fifty Shades Of Grey)" The Weeknd
Quote:
The Weeknd scores his first Pop Songs No. 1, as "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" rises 2-1. Notably, the song dethrones Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" after three weeks on top. With both songs from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, a song from a soundtrack replaces a track from the same soundtrack at No. 1 on Pop Songs for the first time since 1998: that July, Alanis Morissette led for two weeks with "Uninvited" before Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" took over for four weeks at the summit. Both tracks were released from the soundtrack to the Nicholas Cage/Meg Ryan box office hit City of Angels.
Additionally, two songs from the same album top Pop Songs in succession for the first time since 2004: that February, OutKast's "The Way You Move" (featuring Sleepy Brown) began a three-week command after "Hey Ya!" had ruled for nine weeks. Both smashes are from the album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
Meanwhile (below), Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea surge in at No. 23 with "Pretty Girls." As reported Friday, the collab is set to enter the Billboard Hot 100 inside the top 40 this week.

Quote:
Unlike certain eventual ghost towns when it came to sparring gunslingers, the Adult Pop Songs chart is big enough for the both of these like-titled songs (word spacing aside). Lambert's (complete with a Wild West-reminiscent whistle for its chorus' hook) is his fifth hit on the chart, while Madonna lands her 19th. The latter single also bounds 6-3 as the Greatest Gainer on Dance Club Songs and ranks at No. 20 on Adult Contemporary.
