Matching pitch is usually the biggest indicator that you can sing. Try to find a virtual keyboard someone online and try to match pitch (or follow the tone/sound) with it.

I would advise that if you go with a vocal coach on youtube or something, make sure you WATCH their videos before taking classes with them. Some are a tad bit more judgmental and believe that singing should be left to "gifted" and "talented" people. Just keep an eye out on coaches like that. You don't need someone who doesn't actually BELIEVE that you can do what it is that you want to do (as long as you're being realistic unlike Doc )

Eric and his team are great though! I actually had a one time lesson with Leora Nosko who works under him, and she was simply amazing.

Can we get into how Selena Gomez has like some seriously easy songs to sing, but live her resonance is barely existent (at first I thought it was her microphones, but its been proven in more than one performance) and in some live performances she's struggling to actually even "sing" I love her music, but it's frustrating to me.
