Carrie's made a lot more money because of her successful tours and the fact that she reigns in the country market. She is however a local act when compared to Kelly.
Both of them, and the übertalented Ms. Hudson are the best contestants this show ever had, for sure.
I am actually surprised at Clay Aiken being so low (comparatively). His albums used to sell like crazy.
Also surprising is McPhee, whose music career never went anywhere. I guess she's made some good coins from acting in those awful TV shows.
It doesn't make sense, especially considering Kelly is GLOBAL. Carrie is not.
I'm pretty sure they've sold about the same amount of records worldwide, although I'm sure a greater proportion of Carrie's total comes from the U.S. Maybe Carrie's touring has given her the edge?
I didn't expect Carrie to be at #1 with such a huge margin, but congrats! All the names on that list are super talented. American Idol may be well past its prime now, but it's definitely churned out some terrific singers.
