I think it just sounds like that tbh

It sounds like she literally recorded some parts during the BTW era and others in ARTPOP era.

Most of the stuff we got on ARTPOP was recorded/written from 2011 to late 2012 tho.
Donatella, G.U.Y., MJH, Aura, MANiCURE, ARTPOP.
Also Onion Girl, TEA, Temple, Ratchet, Red Flame, Tinnitus.
Then around the time her hip broke (early 2013): Applause, DWUW, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy.
Summer 2013: Fashion! (remember that ig post of David Guetta with Will.i.am.)
Shortly b4 release: Venus, Dope.
Idk bout Swine & JND but I think JND was done after they decided to not include Azealia's tracks on the album.
and I aslo have no idea bout In Like With You, Brooklyn Nights.

Most of the stuff was written and had drafts recorded in 2012. I think she was doing the finishing touches on the album Summer of 2013 and most songs were re-recorded then too because she said so right after she broke her hip that she was re-recording some material. She definitely was out of touch. I think she had this idea that the fans wanted electronic dance music (which we did), but dance had moved to a different direction honestly. Not to mention a lot of the lyrics on ARTPOP are pretty wonky and odd.
