I hate arguments like this. Sure, the music is the most important aspect, and I can be satisfied with that alone, but is it a crime to want an artist that we clearly care about to succeed?

No it isn't. That's not my point. These people are taking it to another extent. They are taking the joy of music away. It's always about how the song is doing on the charts rather than the song itself.

You can only post about how much you like or dislike the song so many times. From what I've seen, most people gave their opinion of the song itself upon release and then began tracking chart positions and stuff.

You are not understanding. That's all they care about. Just another receipt to brag about.

If that were the case, no one in here would be praising songs like "Break the Ice" that are pretty much useless as receipts unless we are talking about quality and not success.

Break the Ice is a good song and has been since first listen. I'm saying I'm sure many are not very invested into Pretty Girls the actual song in comparison to how invested they are with its commercial performance.

I don't see what one has to do with the other, I guess. You can like or dislike a song and still take interest in its chart performance.

I mean, if one is using the song purely as a receipt, is he or she really a stan to begin with? Most of the true stans who have said they are not a fan of the song have also stated that they want the song to do well, obviously, because they want Britney to succeed. If one is purely interested in the song's commercial performance and not the song itself, he or she is probably a hater that just wants to use the song as a tool to bash Britney.
