Also do they have any info on how many tickets were sold as opposed to gross? I watched this movie in 2D which contributes less gross and i'm just curious if they're actually under-performing on tickets or are people just not going for 3D as much

There's just per-theater averages for now as far as I can see, but this really isn't underperforming regardless. It was never fair to presume it would do the same as the original at home, whereas with China's explosion since 2012 it was always surely to do the same or better abroad than the previous movie.
