How is Blackout in any way shape or form similar to Born This Way?

All I remember is everyone calling her a flop and hating her
I appreciate it more looking back, but I loved the music and photoshoots.
I think ARTPOP had better performances though. They were more consistent imo.

Well, I thought they could have chosen better singles, but regardless the album is her (2nd) best and timeless. I enjoyed the era a lot and I also saw her live

I really enjoyed the BTW era. I didn't follow any of the forums back then (despite being a huge fan ever since JD) so I never had to deal with or see disgruntled fans, haters etcetera, and got to enjoy the era for the music and the visuals Gaga delivered.
People say it was messy and was the beginning of the decline, but unless you invest time into following their every move and actually give a toss about the opinions of others; you don't hear about their missteps and they don't bother you.
Then you have an era like ARTPOP which makes BTW look beautifully executed and fans appreciate everything that went into that era.

I loved her. I remember watching the ShowStudio interview livestream where she first said Born This Way publicly back in 2010. iirc we got a bunch of leaks that month as well. She was on top of the world.

I loved every bit of the era, and the album remains my most-listened one by Gaga.
I remember everyone shading it because of the whole album of the decade thing, but in hindsight, it really is one of the best pop albums of recent times. It was ahead of its time and will sound fresh for years to come.

ew you only say this because you weren't a stan
The music was cute but everything else...
+ the fact she used the gays' insecurities to make it a successful era.

I wasn't a fan of Gaga back then but I did love Marry the Night, still do. It did feel like she was around alllll the time which annoyed me but listening at the album now it feels cohesive and big in sound. I like the album, the rest I have not witnessed obviously.

Can you please elaborate on this?
How can 'using' someone's insecurities make an album sell upward of 7 million and give you a $180,000,000 grossing tour (with fewer than 100 shows)? Lady Gaga's outspokenness regarding the LGBT community during the 'Born This Way' era didn't benefit her career in any way, shape or form. That and the sheer overexposure of the era were what alienated a huge portion of her casual listeners.

Gaga was more outspoken about Gays during TFM BTW - it was the music that carried a message, and Gaga was only explaining what it meant when promoting the album.
Her using the gays, as if the gays are an object I am sorry but as a gay male I feel offended, because no one can use me

I LOVED Gaga during TF/TFM and then I disliked her in the BTW era and now I like her again.
But not as much as I loved her in her first 2 eras

Just wait for the new music, I feel like she'll have her second moment, they are definitely doing something different with RedOne..

I found it to be a bit unusual at first, particularly the visuals, but got used to it all after some time. The lead was a huge grower for me and so was "Judas", although I still don't like it as much. "Hair" and "The Edge of Glory" both were love on first listen and I also remember being obsessed with the instrumental snippets of "Bloody Mary" and "Marry the Night" which she had teased through Gagavision.
Ultimately, the music failed to live up to the immense hype, though the whole project was still very outstanding and unique. Generally, BTW is still my favourite Gaga era and her best album, too, in my opinion. Good times.
That said, I wasn't a big fan of some of the performances she did that era. The music videos took some time for me to truly appreciate them, too, but that's really just nitpicking. The project as a whole remains unmatched.

An era that seems to have pleased most... NOW!
If you were on ATRL or just online, it seems she couldn't catch a break and everything she released was tied to a scandal or a meltdown from her fanbase. It's really interesting how times and perspective can give a different colour to a project. What was once hated is now celebrated. An accelerated postmodern Warholian rehabilitative experience!

I was just as big a stan back then as now. Loved every minute of it, even though there was a number of fans complaining left and right that it wasn't like The Fame era and whatnot. Looking back, the cracks and mistakes in the era are glaringly obvious, but hindsight is 20/20 in every situation, and the content itself (i.e. the music, videos, performances, etc.) was all perfect.
