It's one thing to see some person smoke but to see a singer do it of all people just baffles me

Yeah. As much as I love her raspy voice, it's so selfish as a fan to get some satisfaction out of her destroying her lungs and vocals for the sake of a damn rasp. Okay, you got your rasp, but you also got 2 less albums. Enjoy.

I agree. You can hear from everywhere that it's unhealthy, but it does ruin your life in a long run. And she would be really bummed when she can't run/ride a bike/play with her grandkids when she's 65. Why would you risk it for some lame social behavior?

as long as it means 2 less mediocre albums and a smaller quantity to make room for quality, why not. also, it's her choice. if she wants to sin a little and smoke, or does it to lay down some killer tracks, i'm all for it. it's not selfish of us if she herself wants to sound more like she does on, for example, free. i welcome the rasp as i prefer her vocal abilities with a raw rock voice. if she doesn't want to and chooses to go back to her chipmunk voice (her words, not mine) then that's ok with me too.

Girl please. Her album wasn't mediocre because she lacked a rasp. It was mediocre because she didn't put her all into it. I also don't think it's that mediocre of an album. She had her rasp with her first album and that album was ****. Try This wasn't good because it was a raspy voice, it was good because she didn't give a **** and just made music without any care of it being a hit or not. Wanting her to ruin her voice for your benefit is selfish as ****. You can defend it all you want, but it's still selfish.
