Avril, no doubt.
Didn't her debut outsell Katy's discography?

Katy 5 #1s vs Avril's 6 million selling debut.
0 Grammys I think they're even.

Katy toured better, sold more singles and is more of a public figure than Avril ever was in the US. Avril sold more albums though

Avril was a phenomenon. Katy is a current thing for me. I can't remember her singles and she had no impact like Avril.

That's the only thing she has over Katy, album sales and that was because she released in like 2002.

Katy Perry has the highest-grossing female tour in the US ever, and 9 #1s.
Avril was just a tween fad unfortunately. The fact that she doesn't have a single song in the iTunes top 1,500 only solidifies this.

And the only thing Katy has over Avril is singles sales and that's only because Katy released her singles in the digital age while Avril didn't

Katy obliterates Avril when it comes to touring. Let's compare numbers?

Pretty much. Singles sales were dead by 2002.
And Katy's album sales are pretty meh for an artist with that many hit singles.

She didn't go #1 though
Katy wins in touring, singles and everything else besides album sales.
