I came from the exact situation and my mother never took a penny from him. And he was never in my life, not from day one. Things were hard for us but we were better off without any ties to him whatsoever.

His DNA. There shouldn't be any way to abandon rights to a child which is, biologically, just as much the father's as it is the mother's. If you don't want the rights to a child, don't get into a situation where having a child is a potential result.

Yes, he assumed the risk to give up all rights in any potential pregnancy when he participated in an act that could lead to his DNA developing into a baby in someone else's body.

Ideally, this is the best option. I totally believe if you're not willing to have a child, you should glove up, zip it up, or abstain from vaginal intercourse.

I'm just speaking from an experience where I feel sometimes it's just better to kick his ass to the curb and be on your own. I'm no lawmaker, I'm no father, I'm no mother, I'm speaking from the only POV I have which is that of a child with an absentee father. It makes me happy to know that he didn't have any influence on my life and on who I've become as a person.

I'm not the person to decide on any of these laws anyways.

Nope. he shouldn't have to pay one cent, and neither should anyone else. Parenthood should be a mutual agreement. If we didn't make child support mandatory, out of wedlock births would decrease, less people would be in prison, and more children would have both parents to support them without needless emotional trauma.

Does that intrinsically make the baby his responsibility? If the woman can rescind her responsibility via aboriton why can't the Dad rescind his checks?

No. there can never be full 'equality' in regards to pregnancy because biology isnt equal. Women carry and give birth to it so whether you like it or not they have the final say on these things and the men have to deal with it. a small price to pay. you cant compare bodily autonomy and money

The woman has bodily autonomy regardless of whether the man contributes financially.

I'm thinking if the woman is pregnant and the father is in her life then he can "sign off" and not pay child support if he wanted an abortion. Thats the better alternative than giving a man contorl over a woman's body. That way its sort of equal. After the child is born and he didn't sign off not to pay, then tough luck

Obviously there's exceptions like the one in the OP but for the other men that want a woman to kill her child so he won't have to pay his child support is ****ing crazy
