I don't see why or how Mariah would make it in before Whitney. Even if she had more input in her music, it was never as acclaimed as Whitney's debut, and Whitney had way more impactful and influential moments than Mariah if we're comparing respective careers. Plus, Mariah is pretty much in a standstill with all of the horrible performances she has had in recent years.

No she didn't. Janet's commercial success lasted 16 years(1986-2001), Mariah's lasted 10 years, (1990-1999, 2005,) and Whitney's lasted 13 (1985-1998).

Janet really deserves it most out of the bunch. She has some amazing albums that really contributed to so many different genre's of music. Mariah and Whitney both should get it too though.

It doesn't really matter because neither Whitney nor Mariah deserve to be inducted imo

Whitney was even worse. She didn't write or have a huge contribution in any of her work. She, much like Mariah, was just an amazing vocalist.
I'd support Janet getting in tho. She was creative and took real risks with her music that usually paid off. From Control to Rhythm Nation to janet. to The Velvet Rope, her discography has been dope.

None of that is a requirement in the R&R Hall of Fame. And Whitney vocally arranged the majority of her songs.

Whitney's the most influential female vocalist of the past three decades.....

Mariah: 1990-1999, 2005-2009 = 15 years. And Mariah had more success in a shorter span

All three women have had more impact to music than 60% of the acts in the Hall anyways

The HOF is too racist. They'll all get in there eventually though once these senile old men on the panel die off.

Ehhh, I don't think Beyonce's going to have anymore of an easier time getting in than Mariah or Whitney. Also Beyonce has a long time before she's even eligible and many of the same people voting in the R&R Hall of Fame are the same people who did NOT give Beyonce AOTY.

Mariah is just not worthy, she's not a legend imo

What? How is Mariah not a legend? You guys seem to underrate certain pop/R&B acts as much as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does. She is far more influential than more than half of the people that have already been inducted.

STOP this stupidness.
Don't overuse the race card please.
6/10 of the first year's inductees are black.

BTW, very interesting thread! I think the RnR HOF should have more recognition, it is clearly more credible than these basic awards shows nowadays, even though they've made some mistakes like not inducting Janet, Whitney and... Kate Bush!
But we can forgive them because they have some big legends in there... Woo

More like Mariah's lasted 17 years... 1990 through 2001 and again from 2005 through 2009 And Mariah is in a much better place than Janet and Whitney were during the first few years after their declines

Out of the three, I think Janet has the best chance of being inducted. She's more acclaimed than the other two. I don't think Whitney and Mariah will ever be inducted.

Ignoring the counting error, I'd be happy to compare Mimi's MIAMTEC receipts with Damita Jo, 20 Y.O. or Discipline.

Where's the counting error. 1990-2001 is 12 years. 2005-2009 is 5 years. Is it really that hard to understand
You're going to compare album sales from the early 2000s to 2014? #Beautiful was a bigger hit than anything Janet released after 2001 and Mariah actually has some sort of public interest surrounding her
