I liked Ellen when she first started out in the early 2000s. She was a fresh, light-hearted, humorous relief from the social and political confusion of the time and the more serious leanings of Oprah. Her opening bits were smart, her skits were hilarious, and her interviews were unique.
This right here is a symbol of everything that's now wrong with the Ellen show. The worst part is it doesn't even faze her.
Why isn't that $ going to homeless LGBT youth that actually need it?
Ellen didn't used to chase trends, she created them. She didn't used to follow pop-culture, she WAS pop-culture.
In all of Wendy's tacky, dirty, backstabbing there is a REALITY that Ellen in her nice-way stopped even attempting to grasp almost a decade ago.
Be kind to one another Ellen? I'm all for that, but let's get out of the hermetically-sealed bubble that is now your show in relationship to the world FIRST.
...am I still the only one recognizing that this is Shutterfly's money that's being given away, not Ellen's? Like, yall still care? They're promoting their company by hopping on the latest viral event and that's it. No need to drag Ellen. It'd be different if she was giving them $20k of her money but she's not.
This is cute and everything but Ellen is always giving money to well off, middle class people. Like someone else said, what about the homeless LGBT youth? HIV/aids sufferers? Trans people that are lower class and need money for their transition?
