I walked into Best Buy today and they had a range of 3D Blu-Rays from $7.99 up to $20 on sale, while usually they cost anywhere from $25 to $40.

On top of that, standard Blu-Ray's can cost anywhere from $5 to $20 as well.

DVD's can cost anywhere from $15 to $18.

Now my question is, why are people wasting money on SD quality? DVD's are worth $5, no more. If you're going to buy a DVD, why don't you just go to Netflix? It really irks me that people still buy them when you can get great deals on HD material, especially 3D available for the same price, if not less than.

With the HD vs. SD war going on right now, they really should lower new release DVD to $10 (tops) or don't release them at all. I own 150+ 3D movies and 700+ Blu-Rays. From experience, I'd say half of them are less than $20

Imo a lot of people still don't own the technology that would justify buying Blu-Rays, they wouldn't even see the difference in picture quality.

Why they don't buy movies digitally is the exact same argument as digital albums vs. CDs. Some people prefer buying physical formats.

I agree some DVDs are overpriced compared to BRs, though.

In the UK, new release DVDs start at around £10 (15 dollars) and new release Blu-rays at around £14 (22 dollars). I still buy DVDs because it all adds up, and after the prices go down, cheap DVDs are so much cheaper than cheap Blu-Rays. Plus I don't have a Blu-ray player.

Blu-Ray built a lot of hype, but never completely overshadowed dvds.

I don't think dvds will disappear anytime soon, if anything only the disc will get smaller.

Blu-Ray never really caught up. +, people have shifted to online streaming. The physical market is burning out before any physical gets a chance.

Don't have a blu-ray player so I buy DVDs.

I don't think they'll go extinct for a LONG time.
