The PS4 officially launched in China in March, and it’s been quite popular in the country so far. Despite the fact that only 6 PS4 games are officially allowed to be sold, the Chinese love the PS4 — so much so that in just one month, the PS4 has sold more units in China than the Xbox One managed to do in 8 months.
Sony launched the PlayStation 4 in China with a lot of 200,000 consoles. While the Chinese government officially allows only 6 PS4 games to be sold, since the PS4 is region free, many Chinese gamers chose to buy their games in Hong Kong, or on the black market in major cities.
The PlayStation 4 retails for 2,900 Yuan in China, which translates to around $470 — quite an increase from the $400 we’re paying in the US. According to Chinese retail analysts, the PS4 sold 73,000 units during its first month on the market in China. By comparison, the Xbox One has sold just 71,000 units after 8 months on the market.
However, while being more expensive in China, the PS4 is bundled with two free games over there: King of Wushu and Mr Pumpkin’s Adventure – both games tailored for the Chinese market.
