Shooting at anti-Islam event in Texas
Quote:
HOUSTON — Two gunmen were killed after they opened fire Sunday evening outside an event hosted by an anti-Islam group in Garland, Tex., featuring cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, local officials said. According to the authorities, the two assailants shot a private security guard and were, in turn, shot and killed by police officers.
The shooting began shortly before 7 p.m. outside the Curtis Culwell Center at an event organized by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an anti-Islam organization based in New York.

1 police officer shot in foot, 2 shooters dead. And what's with the title? It's a pro-free speech event. These Islamic extremists are crazy, but the lesson here is "don't mess with Texas".

I can title my thread however I see fit, as I exercise my First Amendment right to freedom of speech. Thank you very much. Don't let the back arrow hit you on the way out.

Are people ignorant?
The first ammendment protects you from government censorship. That's what free speech means.
It has nothing to do with how you title an Atrl thread. Atrl is not th le government.

I know. I was being facetious with Goosey.
I am just annoyed that I brought this relevant story here for discussion, and that my title is attacked when it is 100% accurate.

With your title, it seems to me you aren't fully supporting these patriots.
By the way, I made a thread about this event when it was first announced months ago (" Draw Mohammed for a chance to win $10,000") but the moderators deleted the entire thing. I guess radical Islam scares even the ATRL mod squad.

no one should support either side. the islamophobic scumbags do not have my support now or ever, it is not a matter of freedom of speech.

Fair enough. I just thought it would be important for ATRL to discuss this topic, as it is, in my opinion, a great example of police doing good, and support for the 2nd Amendment. It's critical that people get to see a fair share of both sides of the fence. I'm surprised they deleted that.

This contest was announced in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo killings. Context. Yes, it is a matter of freedom of speech.

Look up the woman who hosted this. Her biggest campaigns are having these ads posted on public transport in several metropolises:

'Freedom of speech', yeah, but don't deny she is not Islamophobic.
By the way, not long after she was on Fox News scaremongering and blaming Islamic leaders in the US for this.

It's not freedom of speech. The government isn't censoring this event, they weren't saying you can't have such a thing going on.
There's a difference between fairly criticizing a religion, and another to unfairly attack a religion.
When you learn the difference then we can have a fair discussion. But until then you're just throwing around phrases that you know little about.

you'd have to be seriously dense to not see the whole thing as a badly disguised front for a gathering of lunatic racists/islamophobes like seriously... the whole thing reeks of bigotry

Charlie Hedbo poked fun at EVERYBODY, but underneath the satire there was a bigger message. They just chose whacky cartoons to portray it.
Pam on the other hand is just muslims this, Islam that, rinse and repeat.
No one should've gotten shot today, no one should fear drawings, but they obviously took the Hedbo tragedy and ran with it before and after the shooting.

If that's what Americans think Muhammed looked like, it's no wonder orthodox Sikh men keep getting harassed, assaulted or even killed for being "Muslim."

Interesting - But also, blatantly open. I don't believe in an inside job at 9/11 but we know who escalate the Vietnam war in the Gulf ofTomkin.
This means be open but don't believe anything like a sheep.
