And anyway the only way Rude Boy overshadowed Telephone was on YouTube views. Telephone sold more, was #1 in more places, had better positions on global Year-End music charts and is more iconic. So this whole arguing over the way the GP perceived these artists or why Rude Boy overshadowed Telephone is pointless.

It is subjective, but Rude Boy doesn't seem very iconic in comparison to Telephone for me. I'd bet that the GP would not be able to identify the song if you showed them an image of the video, whereas Telephone would probably be more easily recognized, if not for the fact that it's Beyoncé and Gaga and there are fewer options of what it could be. Also Rude Boy's video style had been done many times before and after so it's not as unique.
