Leona Lewis has criticised Simon Cowell’s record label and said she won't be censoring any of her material now that she has signed Island Records.
In an online video, which you can view below, she claims she felt "taken advantage of'' at Cowell's Syco label and won't be holding back when it comes to slamming her former colleagues on her new album.
She added: ''A lot of people were telling me how to be and how to act and what to say. No one is one-dimensional.
She is talking about the label and the image they wanted to put her in.
I don't think when an artist say a thing like this he is wrong because always 100% of the time it comes from frustration cuz' you are in a label, you are signed to a deal and if you don't see an eye to eye with them, than your music, that thing you want to do, will not get released.
On the other hand, what does get released is not exactly what you passionate about.
So that is not a good situation for an artist to be in, and Leona probably feels free now to make more of a music that she likes. And that's without even going into the image as a person they probably wanted her to put out instead of being herself.
So she is not coming for Simon, he is probably aware of some of this stuff but he is def' not running and managing each singer on his label. I mean, come on. Such a strech of a title for that hit thread.
Not surprised. Reality show contestants have some of the absolute worst contracts in the industry, and they pressure contestants to sign their rights away or get booted off the show. The UK industry is even worst than the US, so I can only imagine what hers was like.
