Not exactly. An album is
usually a cohesive body of work. A collection is basically admitting that the songs have no cohesion and are just a bunch of songs put together for release at the same time, kind of like an officially released mixtape or playlist, I guess. For example, Colette Carr's 'Skitszo Collection', which was initially released as a series of four EPs.
