Yeah if Taylor wasn't beautiful she would have been relegated to Nashville songwriter. The fact that she sounds good on record is a testament to the power of melodyne and vocal comping.
Taylor could never sing live well, I remember struggling listening thru her award show performances a good 5 years ago where she was half a note sharp/flat pretty much the whole time and also shaky... still the case Rihanna's better.
That being said, Taylor is one of the best and most versatile songwriters of our generation.
