Good. Studies have shown gay men have exponentially higher rates of HIV and other STDs. In addition there is a period where the HIV virus is not detected by standard tets. I'm glad the EU isn't compromising patient safety in the name of political correctness.

My country disallow gays from giving blood at all, even if they've never had sex. Can you imagine if they were discussing banning black people from giving blood, for the same reasons?

They expect people donating blood to be honest. I don't understand why anyone would be so desperate to randomly donate their own blood they would lie to medical professionals and possibly put others at risk, but they're out there.

Honestly, this is an issue that only gay men themselves can solve and a stigma only they can take away.

When the HIV rates go down and/or show a significant decrease within MSM, then gay men will have valid claims to have the bans taken away.

When you log onto Grindr, 1 out of 10 guys has HIV. Literally.

Always assume whoever you're having sex with is HIV positive. That way you won't do anything unsafe, and you have nothing to worry about. And the basics of course (considering how many gay men are on this site this is important advice so I hope not to see a report for 'vulgar'): check genital and mouth regions before doing anything, if you have a wound/cut/blister in your mouth don't suck his penis, do not have anal sex without a condom, and provide the condoms yourself just to be sure (condoms can expire) regardless if you're the insertive or receptive partner. And, in non-sex related matters, never ever let anybody put a needle into your body that has been used by someone else, or that you have not seen removed from a brand new package if you're in a less-than-credible setting.
