What if the commercial flops out faves experienced had been commercial successes? How different would their career have been? Different sounds, images, endeavours? Would some projects not exist?

I think had Madonna's films been highly successful she would have focused a lot more on film. If Erotica had been a greater seller/no backlash then she would have continued the 'button pushing' for some time. I don't think COADF would exist if American Life was successful.

If Damita Jo was successful from Janet her career would not be in this situation. With Madonna, American Life would've netted her more success as she wouldn't get the radio backlash.

Had Blackout been successful, her career would not be that different. It would just prove that she is a force regardless of circumstance.

Although it was a Top 40 hit, if C'Mon would've been successful, the label might've released Crazy Kids without a desperate remix (which actually destroyed the song) and the whole era might've done better as a result and we would probably be having news about the new album instead of...well...the current situation...

Crazy Kids deserved so much better. I'll never forgive her/her team for that era. The album cover, bad marketing, everything. Crazy Kids deserved to be top 10.
