Musically, Ciara is done and stuck in her ways.

You mean, the best she could up with is that uninspiring song she did with Dr. Luke? The chorus does nothing. She'll make cute bops from time to time, but I don't think she will musically evolve. She's kinda like Monica.

I feel like she should go for under-the-radar producers and go down-tempo like what Tinashe and Miguel did. Someone like Ryan Hemsworth would have been a perfect fit for her singing style. To say she's a dancer, she can't come up with a universal fun bop anymore. Ciara is so of her time, and that's unfortunate because she was once my favorite.

I think she's one of those artist that she's damned if she do and damned if she don't. Ciara
will remain her best album for me because of the Urban sound but people wanted more Pop from her. Now that they have that, people want more Urban. Mess.

Ne-Yo, Ciara, Chris Brown, Monica, Brandy, and Usher are all stuck in a box that they can't get out of, and commercially, they're pretty much over. Usher always has a chance I guess, but his newer songs are so uninspiring, and I feel like he's been one up by some of the newer males these past few albums. To be honest, I'm more interesting in what the newer acts have to offer over the vets. Everyone has his or her time, I suppose.

The fans are the ones who put them in a box, they aren't there by choice. Usher has tried and suceeded to break out several times, as well as Ne-Yo, Chris, and to an extent Ciara. But when Urban radio only plays clones of the same song, what can they do?

I think the problem with these artists is that when they step out of the urban box & play in pop, they never do anything more than a few generic bops. Never amazing or stellar.

Doing generic pop dance bops is hardly thinking outside of the box, though. If you're not doing R&B/urban music, you're doing dance bops produced by Calvin Harris or Dr. Luke. I'm talking about actually taking risks and working with up and coming producers to upgrade your sound. None of them have done it. Only Beyoncé.
