This site always praises Teenage Dream (the song) and how it's such a classic yet it failed to make the top 100 on iTunes after the Superbowl. Like.... LOL, it's pretty much forgotten. But yeah, it is a pretty pop song.
How was Circus not a commercial success compared to expectations? WHO expected her before the era started to have a #1 hit, another Top 3 hit and debut with over 500k, and have a huge sold out world tour?
Everyone was saying "her career is over" at the time. With good reason.
Katy ha pop flop songs are terribad. Generic, pure trash made only to be hits. She has no artistic credibility with those songs. She is a mess for not releasing Double Rainbow even if it would have flopped. She could've gotten a Grammy. Hopefully next album is the dark album with some deep, meaningful songs

Katy can't write deep. At best I could see her doing something like Joan Osborne's "One of Us" (that song would actually fit her SO well and be her artistic reinvention).

That's why Circus gets 0.5, it had one hit and sold pretty well. But definitely needed another hit to get the full point.
