Criminals will not care if it's illegal to own a gun, and they will surely not be deterred by not being able to just walk into a gun store and buying one.

If I start shooting people that makes me a criminal, one that does not giving a rat’s ass about any laws telling me what I can or cannot do. You see as a criminal I don't obey laws. Chances are I will end up killing a lot of people because the police won't respond fast enough, it’s not their fault they can't teleport instantly to me and I have a machine gun.

However, if someone in the market also has a gun I might get my ass shot before I killed everyone.

This is the problem Liberals have with logic. They don't apply it to the real world we live in but the world they wish existed.
