Because she is the only democrat so far running. I could give you another argument, but right now that is the only argument I need. Like why would you even consider a republican now, to drown everything that has been done in the past 8 years?

1. She's a Democrat, and most ATRLers identify more with the Democrats' platform than the Republicans'
2. She's the most likely contender for the Democrat's 2016 presidential candidate
3. She's been a celebrity since the early 1990's
4. She's a female

You know, they were just reflecting the views of voters at the time, as any good politician would do, no one ever lead to persecution of gays, so don't be dramatic. The irony is, without those laws, there would be no current laws.

No, because the LGBT exposure wasn't as big of a movement as it is now, and there are other forces that support the movement as well, like celebrities. And since 90's, everyone has moved on from the church, religion and knows how to separate those from the state.

I agree tbh, if someone else enters the race, like Elizabeth Warren, i'd probably drop Hilary like a hot potato.

1. Elizabeth Warren nor Martin O'Malley nor Bernie Sanders would win a general election.

2. DOMA was passed by Bill to prevent a constitutional amendment that would have been much harder to overturn.

3. Don't Ask Don't Tell was passed to prevent a full-on ban from gays in the military

4. #2 and #3 were unfortunate measures that had to be taken given the political realities of the time.
