Yeah, it's like, have you polled every single person in your country? Was "Do you know [insert popstar*?" a question on your country's recent census?

Especially when they say it about someone like Mariah who probably has a #1 album and singles there. Otherwise, it says a lot more about whichever backwater island the person lives in than it does about the supposedly "unknown" artist they are talking about

Before saying that I normally check if her singles or albums are certified (or charted) in my country, if I don't find certifications then I can safely assume almost no one knows her here unless she has been mentioned several times by people I either know or don't know.
