I am PAYING 10 Euro every month to listen to music and many more people started doing it now. 70% goes to the artists, I think that is a reasonable share. Thing is, I used to pirate, like many people with Spotify I am out of that grey area and legit paying for something. So you rather have people pirating or streaming?

I'm laughing at you because Netflix is dramatically cheaper than getting ANY TV service package. So that's why there is no passionate hate because it's the cheaper alternative to cable

Obviously I am reading a lot of the stuff on Tidal because of Beyoncé's involvement, but I am not dumb enough to let my stan glasses make me think differently about it just because she signed her name to a TIDAL paper. I have had negative opinions about Beyoncé, so don't lull yourself into a fantasy of pills and brainwashing. The logic is simple. If Tidal is greedy, then Prada is greedy. Starbucks is greedy, Dean and Deluca's is greedy, etc. etc. Anything that offers "luxury" product, or overpriced product, or does anything to increase their own profits is greedy. The only ones who are not I guess are non-profit businesses.

If you lack the ability to separate someone's fave from their own opinion though, there's not much else I can say.

Isn't artists getting paid a label issue? Spotify made deals with labels to put their catalogs on it. When you stream a song, the money goes to Spotify + the label and it's up to the label to determine what the artist gets. yes, artists don't get paid that much from streaming but they also don't make that much from album/singles sales. artists are going to get paid the same amount of money whether that song is streamed on Spotify, Tidal, Rdio, YouTube, etc.

people don't hate Tidal just for existing. people hate it because the marketing for it made everyone involved seem full of themselves and selfish and they haven't made any attempt to show how this will actually benefit artists (especially new artists). it's overall just a bad business plan. $20 a month for lossless high quality audio doesn't make any difference than a regular, HQ mp3 to the average listener. their idea that people will join Tidal just for exclusive content from artists is also flawed when we live in the day when things are shared/leaked/ripped onto the internet within a minute of release.

personally, I like the idea of a service that's cheap, gets new music out to fans quicker, and can give us cool new content in an easy format. but the entire marketing has made everyone involved look bad, no one actually knows how Tidal benefits artists (ESPECIALLY new artists), and the exclusives so far have shown no actual benefit to buying into it.

Just like Nicki, Just like Calvin, people who invest in these sort of projects are never poor, and it always done for the primary purpose of making more money. Stop being so naive

It's just really funny to call these artists greedy (especially when Jay-Z flat out said he doesn't mind if the company itself makes less money so long as the artists make more) and then not mention any other millionaire or even billionaire who continually is looking for new ways to boost profits.
