It's sad but systemic racism and constant bombardment of Eurocentric media and beauty standards gets played out in all avenues of life but especially in relationships/sex and especially in the gay community. Those negative thoughts of low self-worth and not being seen as attractive (or only attractive for their "whiter" features) is internalized and played out in personal hookup/relationship preferences. White people play into this by a) not discussing it, b) downplaying its importance and effects, and c) internalizing feelings of conceit and superiority because idealized representations of themselves are everywhere they look.

vacations to tropical places arent a cultural norm in asia, a lot of asians are already tan naturally so being tan isnt seen as exotic like in the west, being tan still has connotations to being poor/a laborer in the east.

Please don't make generalizations about Asians just because many of them (and all minorities) have internalized racism issues. Yes, there are many that buy into the "white is better" ideology because that's how it's portrayed everywhere but not every Asian person feels this way and in fact I've noticed quite the opposite. Many minorities I know actually don't date white guys or aren't into them because of experiences being fetishisized or simply because they've finally realized that non-white guys do it better.
