Sure, the openers are the songs that open up the album, like Gimme More for Blackout, Losing Grip for Let Go, or Over My Dead Body on Take Care.

The opener is supposed to introduce you to the album and set the tone.

The closer is supposed to wrap things up. It's the last song. Why Should I Be Sad on Blackout, Naked on Let Go, and The Ride on Take Care.

They're supposed to bring the album to a satisfying end and make the listener feel closure and satisfied with the listen.

Usually the closers aren't singles, but are some of the best songs on the album. Openers on pop albums usually are singles.

This album opener thing is such a bad idea. I signed up with Sucker by Charli XCX and was eliminated in R1 because no one cared about it. (It's the best album opener I have heard in this decade, so... whatever. )

We should play with singles.
