Nnnn @ you slowly turning me into a fan. She's better than I thought. I mean, she has better diction than Iggy. But lyric wise, she's still Will.I.Am level so
Neh I don't think she will. She seems really likeable and like others have said, self-aware. I haven't listened to much from her but I've seen her rap a couple times when people have posted videos on here and while she's not GREAT, she's cute about it and doesn't seem all try hard. I'm here for her getting some recognition in the U.S. tbh.

With the exception of the hair care industry (Koreans), there really isn't this historical context of Asian people oppressing and profiting wildly off of blacks/black culture in the US, the way there is with white people. So, CL wouldn't catch the type of appropriation heat that Iggy catches. That's number one.
#2 The only thing that's novel about CL is that she's a foreign woman because there have been Asian rappers before. Jin was signed to Rough Riders, back in the day, and yeah, he didn't really pop off, but he didn't have any "appropriation" type of heat because he was a rapper. Jin was a popular on the rap battle circuit. That's how he got his deal.
#3 "Far East Movement", "apl.de.ap," Cassie, and Nicole Scherzinger say hello.
#4 Does anyone watch "Fresh off the Boat?" That whole show is about that little Asian-American boy and his love for hip-hop. He's stays swagged out in NBA jerseys and t-shirts with rappers emblazoned on them and peppers his speech with slang from his rap albums, and no one cares. There is no appropriation fuss.
#5 If CL breaks in the US, as an an Iggy type pop-rapper, the discussion won't be about cultural appropriation. It will be about how and why a South Korean chick was able to come over here and be embraced by the US, while Asian American talent is paid dust.
Probably not because she wouldn't be getting success due to her being privileged and it would be a legitimate breakthrough for an Asian female to find success in ANY genre.

Yes. Anyone who says otherwise need to stop lying to themselves even if she's super talented and can rap she will get hate form the SJW if she makes it simply because she is not black and is rapping. I'm rooting for her so hard because we really dont have an asian superstar and we need one.

All of this.
But I really do hope she finds success over here. She's very talented and America is LONG overdue more Asian representation in entertainment.
This is what annoys me about ****ing SJW. You do NOT have to be black or live in America to have a passion for certain genres. Blaccent sounds racist if you talking about it called southern accent not "blaccent" there's no thing as "blaccent".
Oh wait who tf is CL but you know about Minzy
There's nothing racist about the term "blaccent" ugh I hate when y'all try "turning the table" like this dd. That's like saying the term "blackface" is racist because not all black people are dark-skinned.
It's not the term that's racist, it's what the term refers to that's racist.
She's not going to happen in America. Not because she isn't talented or attractive, but because she'll probably have to deal with a million+ people who act just like a few certain stars that posted here. Plus even if she does start finding success there's no telling when the public and media will decide that its outrageous that some foreign Asian chick hit it big while so much homegrown talent remains undiscovered.
She should focus on the UK and the rest of Europe maybe. They seem far more receptive and a lot less messy. Save herself from some early wrinkles.
