Janet has sold like twice as many albums as kylie. Their sales would be pretty much equal if you took the U.S. out. It's absurd that this poll is so one-sided.
You are correct though they're almost the inverse of each other as far as their international appeal goes. I'm not at all surprised at the poll results tho
Some people HATE to acknowledge Jan was successful and made her own way in spite of everything. Oh well.
Most people here know the original/motown version.
this is the only version that went #1 in the US.
Grand Funk Railroad's version went #1 in the U.S., too.
And Kylie's version was actually the biggest global version (it was even the biggest song of the 80s in Australia). My vote still goes to Janet but people on here are doing the most on both sides.
All 3 versions of it are more iconic than most pop girl hits, tbh.
