I was going to argue, but it's really pointless when it comes to idioticy in the land of ATRL.
I have come across people in the "real" world, not "ATRL" world, who questioned my usage of "flop" in regards of an album not succeeding to it's expectations and I had to explain it to them.
N0T just ATRL but the entire internet music community. You're right the word "flop" has two different meanings between the internet and the general/public world.

My point exactly. The internet uses it more graphically than the real world.
In other words, not many people in the real world use the term "flop" when describing an album tanking. They simply state "The album didn't sell much." vs. the internet way of saying "It basically flopped."
People who don't get on the internet 24/7 don't really use the term "flop" when describing something that doesn't succeed and that was my intention of this thread, but I guess it was worded wrong.
Dead, and no. "Flop" is used in journalism which the "real world" reads/writes and converse about all the time. Just because the people you know don't use it doesn't mean no one knows what it means.
POINT BLANK, this article is a piece from a journalist. It's not just the internet or net music community community. Ya'll sound dumb AND, it's not just to describe an album bombing
1. To fall or lie down heavily and noisily.
2. To move about loosely or limply: The dog's ears flopped when it ran. 3. Informal To fail utterly: The play flopped.
It's in the dictionary, but really who gives a sh*t?
