To everyone yes the kid has issues, in fact every criminal has them. Normal mentally balanced people don't decide to randomly or selectively kill someone without there being a screw loose somewhere. That does not mean they should not be punished to the full extent of the law or should they be seen as the victim with regards to their actions.
They very well may be victims of abuse or other environmental factors that drove them to the breaking point but when it comes to their actions they have to be held accountable.

I completely understand a mentally ill defence, but they should still be locked up in secure psychiatric facilities for longer than they currently are. Murder is murder. He should absolutely receive the treatment he requires, but he needs to be punished for the effect his actions have had.
