After recently covering bias in medical schools, we have a bit of a crush this week for the Paul L. Foster Medical School in El Paso. They’ve started a SafeZone LGBT Allies training for medical students. This is no small matter when 81.5% of medical students show anti-LGBT bias. SafeZone graduates even get a rainbow pin for their white coats to show LGBTQ patients that they are queer-friendly! We hope more medical schools follow Foster’s lead.
I read a more indepth article on this earlier this week I think but I can't find it. I agree, it's crazy.

yeah, i mean you're going to be a doctor for god-sake. If you're prejudiced you need to find another career. Doctors should have no/very very little bias otherwise they are in no position to treat their patients equally and with the best care. this world is a sad world
This is surprising considering how many gay men I see at the doctor's office/working in hospitals. There's always like a token gay nurse or two hanging around somewhere.

Because bias is an encompassing word. It doesn't mean they hate LGBT people. There's a bias towards them. It's like people have a bias towards blacks as can be clearly seen in the treatment many blacks receive from police.
I mean this is in El Paso, deep in Texas, so its not that surprising. A know a bunch of med students in the Northeast US and they all seem like some of the most liberal people I know
