No… it's just a slow start for you. If you want, go to my soundcloud and see if you can use a beat on there… if not, try looking for fidetheproducer or sean divine; they have easily some of the most usable beats you can get inspiration from… just can't steal them…

I'm listening to it for the first time. I had to look that line up to make sure I was hearing it right though

I tried to write to beats but I find that so much harder. I have no idea how songwriters do it I always have to come up with the melody myself and prefer when a producers creates the beat based off of what I make.

I really like his more fully orchestrated music more, like Illinois and Age of Adz. Plus I hate that grating effect they put on his vocals for all of Carrie & Lowell. That being said Death with Dignity is cute when I'm in the mood for it. Illinois and Age of Adz are master albums though, especially Age of Adz which is a huge inspiration in my own writing.

There are some questionable lyrics on that album...

Well, it's probably easier for me because I have a hand in music theory and the probability of chords in pop music, so I don't have either problem… It's actually easier for me to write to beats since I'm naturally a singer, but it's so much more rewarding when I make the melody out of thin air… leaves more to the imagination…
