Settling a debate with my friend. Both are used often but which one do you say?

Neither. The term originated as "T", meaning truth, and the gay community/1980's NYC ball scene then made tea-related puns about the term ("Spill the T"). Saying "truth tea" or "true tea" is redundant; it's like saying "truth truth" or "true truth".

I remember one time a member here corrected me when I said true tea. He said TRUTH TEA is the correct way to say it. MESS considering were both wrong

"True" is an adjective and you're saying the tea is truthful while "truth" is a noun, shouldn't it then be "tea of truth" if you wanna use the latter? I don't get how both can be correct but I'm not a native speaker.
